As previously mentioned, 3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes can contribute to LEED Sustainability credits by reducing items sent to the landfill through the maintaining and reusing the existing stock of walls, doors and frames, built in case goods, furniture, etc. through its innovative architectural finishes.

Recently, The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) upgraded its green building standards, requiring LEED Gold certification for all new federal construction and major renovations.

In LEED 2009 there are 100 possible base points plus an additional 6 points for Innovation in Design and 4 points for Regional Priority. Buildings can qualify for four levels of certification:

Certified – 40 – 49 points

Silver – 50 – 59 points

Gold – 60 – 79 points

Platinum – 80 points and above

When bidding on a job, 3M DI-NOC can be used as competitive leverage to obtain the new required standard!

For more information on LEED, please visit the official site for The US Green Building Council at http://www.usbgc.org

Wayne Yada of Premier Color Graphics recently did a refurbish on his 1950 Ford Country Squire, and one of the materials utilized was 3M DI-NOC FW-886. Wayne explains the history below:

“In 1949 Ford came out with this new “woodie” style, and it had both the border trim and panels being made from real wood. Because maintaining the wood was so cumbersome for consumers however, GM started switching from wood to all metal in 1950 (we call these “tin woodies”). So not to be totally beat to the punch, Ford decided not to wait until 1951, so their changeover started in mid 1950. The border panels continue to be wood (mine are maple), but the inner panels were metal with DI-NOC applied. Since mine is a “late” 1950 model, that’s what it had from the factory, and since you were again offering the material (and mine was shot), I decided to utilize it.

Overall I was very pleased with the way it went on and looked so great once finished. Most people cannot tell the difference between the DI-NOC and real wood! I’ve had nothing but compliments on the material/look/stability of the product. With a good marine varnish over the material, it looks EXACTLY like wood!”
